Default How can I look like a zombie?

New here. How you doing?
You may have already guessed why I made this thread, yes it's for halloween, I still think taking over malls through the use of the dead is great though, I'd just like some great tips on making me look like a zombie. Seeing how you guys do it so well.

Any tips are accepted. I'm not looking to be any "kind" of zombie, I'd just like some general hints. Heck, give me some on saving money on make-up, costume, whatever.

The sooner the better! Thank you very much!

Put spirit gun on on you're face and when it dries, sorta rip it out and put blood on it.

If you can afford it, get some liquid latex (also, if you're not allergic). This stuff is amazing! There are lots of great zombie tips at www.zombies.tomwalsham.com. (I think, I can't actually access the site right now)

You're definitely going to want to use LIQUID LATEX to pull and rip, spirit gum doesn't work that way. It dries in a manner more akin to super glue and the only way to get it off is with remover or rubbing alcohol. It's better for gluing prosthetics on, while liquid latex can give your face more of a melting effect.

Spirit gum definitely won't work, and if you tried to rip it from your face you actually might be too successful and not need the blood at all.

This is what I recommend doing if you really want it to look like skin is ripping from you face. Get some liquid latex and brush it on a smooth surface. A table or counter I suppose. Let it dry (or take a blowdryer to it) and then reapply it, making the sheets of latex thicker. When you're satisfied, peel off the sheets of latex. You now have some handy dandy peices of skin to strategically glue (I prefer prosaide over spirit gum myself) to yourself however you want. You can rip them, then glue or the other way around. Just be crafty and have fun.

An additional tip at blending these peices onto your skin.... use the liquid latex on the edges of the peices on yourself to sort of create a smoother connection between the sheets and your skin. Layer it as necessary. The wonderful thing about looking messed up and gory is that if you don't have a delicate hand at this, you can still make it work to your advantage. In other words, it doesn't need to be perfect.

There are a lot of other products I could recommend, but I think if you are not so swauve with the make-up effects this is a good method a lot of people can do. It also involved products with a lot less potential to irritate most. I remember people in make-up school having some pretty gnarly reactions to some of the other stuff.

Where would I be able to buy some liquid latex, besides online? I'm totally going to get a gallon of the stuff, because it's nifty.

Oh, and should it be clear, or flesh colored? Or does it depend on what other kind of makeup will be used?

Here in the LA area there is Cinema Secrets in North Hollywood on Riverside Blvd.

It depends on many things whether flesh colored latex is worth it to you. Firstly, is your skin anything close to that color? And then of course are you planning on covering all of your face with make-up, or blood? I don't even bother with flesh colored myself. It doesn't look enough like most people's skin or I'm just gonna put blood and make-up all over it anyway.
